He has been in the design industry for six years, and on the path to stardom with his contemporary designs and creative angles. Ryan applies a human element to all of his artistic works, making each space unparalleled and elegant, yet incredibly habitable.

When it came time to renovate his own Los Angeles apartment, he stuck to his passions and inspirations. With his culture rich background and love for travel and Hollywood, he achieved the perfect harmony of Los Angeles design.

Ryan designed every inch of his home, from the bedroom to the entryway.

He lives in a triplex walk up, where the stairs are poured concrete, and the wall is metallic cork with motivational words, pictures, and an accolade to a famous British designer.

“I had to have the Tom Dixon pendant hang in the middle!” he says.

After getting past the entryway, when you open the door to his charming abode, you are greeted by two delineate marquee signs. The letters R and S light up a customized wall that can support them.

Throughout Ryan’s work, you can see his love for art and the history behind each piece he chooses. For his home, he decided to follow suit and hung replicas of Andy Warhol’s work.

“These paintings are of the late Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi and his wife, Queen Farah Pahlavi who is still living,” he says. “Farah Pahlavi, the former Queen of Iran, sent me these images to use for the window I designed for the Legends of La Cienega, an ode to Iran. Warhol did the originals in 1979 when he visited Iran, which are still there.”

His beautiful sitting area is plush and inviting. He sports neutral colors mixed with cooler tones, creating a chic, luxurious environment to which people are drawn.

Ryan added posh details, saluting to Madonna and Kate Moss who, in his opinion, are both pioneering women in their fields.

“My place is a reflection of me,” he says. “I love vintage records, and I love Madonna. I had to have these framed. I also have a few Sinatra records.”

Ryan grew up with his mother playing Sinatra throughout their house, which he continued to admire as he grew up. He had to include this music influence that is so big in Hollywood design.

Ryan is drawn to modern works of art for his home and enlisted the help of talented, local L.A. artists such as Skyler Ethan. He had Skyler paint a replica of the fashion and cult icon Kate Moss.

“I commissioned Skyler to make me a vector-based Kate Moss, and I love it,” he says.

When Ryan puts together a space, he makes sure it is practical for the needs of those who will be living in it. For himself, the practicality of the kitchen space is more of a decorative area, rather than a place to cook.

“I never cook, so I wanted my kitchen to be more of a display area than anything else,” he says.

The metallic accents throughout his home are used in clean geometric lines to create a simple statement.

When it came to the bathroom, Ryan wanted to incorporate an urban edge — and did so by applying the high contrast of subway tile and black grout.

“I wanted my place to be edgy and urban but still have a sophisticated feel,” he says. “This contrast was ideal for that.”

Last but not least, he created the bedroom for royalty and had a custom bed made in his favorite color by J Alexander.

Los Angeles has a distinct identity. Ryan perfected his favorite combination of big-city glamour, with his contemporary style — all while maintaining his own personality carefully depicted in each detail.

“I think L.A. style varies greatly with neighborhood and community, but one recurring factor is the influence of Hollywood and the music industry.”
