iHomeRegistry began as a way for new, longtime and future homeowners to easily customize their home furnishings and decor.

It was founded by husband-and-wife team Patrick and Lakin Daniels, who wanted to help homeowners looking to design the perfect space within their budget.

So, they created the iHomeRegistry application, which allows you to archive, organize and compare a variety of home goods and designs at your fingertips.

“iHomeRegistry is a one-stop shop for homeowners, designers and builders to create their perfect space,” Patrick says.

However, iHomeRegistry is no longer just a place for you to plan your space with their 3D Floor Planner. They have two parts to their groundbreaking application, which has filled the void in the digital portion of the design industry.

For homeowners

The first part is the homeowner’s section. Here, you can make a profile, called a “Registry,” where you can register your home, upload a profile picture of your choice, and input your move-in or end-of-project date.

You can also use your registry page to shop, upload photos and utilize the “Inspiration Board” section — a place where homeowners can save their designs, as well as organize their home room-by-room with furniture and decor they either already own, or with new items they wish to buy (or have already bought).

Once you get each room set up with your new and old additions, you can write notes to your designer or partner, commenting on each piece you have added.

Another great feature of iHomeRegistry is a search engine, which allows you to find a local interior designer by looking through thousands of photos from their 1,000 talented and vetted designers. You can interact with the designers by saving the designs to your registry, viewing their profile, and contacting them right from iHomeRegistry.

iHomeRegistry seeks to make the stressful process of moving, remodeling, building and redesigning easier for the homeowner, creating a less tedious process by keeping you organized and having fun during the process.

The application also offers homeowners the option to have floor plans rendered to a 3D design by iHomeRegistry, or to sign up and do it themselves.

For professionals

The second part is the “Professional’s Team,” where designers and builders can sign up and create a profile to showcase their portfolio.

They can upload their work to both their profile and their Inspiration Board, which is interactive for homeowners/users to “like” photos and save designs. A fun feature for designers and builders to use is the “applaud” button, which allows them to acknowledge the works of fellow industry professionals through their uploads on their Inspiration Board.

Just like the homeowner’s section, design professionals can have their floor plans rendered to a 3D layout, and potential clients can connect with them on iHomeRegistry to view their work. They can also add their iHomeRegistry production to their website by integrating the iHomeRegistry’s software into their licensed website.

The newest feature they are working on for professionals is a “mood board,” which can be incorporated into their profile.

“Any designer will tell you that finding qualified, serious clients can be difficult,” Patrick says. “Getting the right exposure is something they do not teach you in design school.”

iHomeRegistry’s goal is to make the design process as easy as possible by connecting the homeowner with the designer, while growing the professional’s business and helping with exposure.

iHomeRegistry loves that they are interactive with their users. They want to assist you in any way they can, giving their site a local, hands-on feel that is reassuring and user-friendly.

In efforts to make designing less stressful and incorporate their hands-on approach, they are working on a subscription-based matching system. Their new system will be able to match homeowners with designers in their database, making it easier to find a quality professional that fits their needs and personalizing the experience.
